Karachi, Oct 26; The Adviser to the Prime Minister on Population Welfare, Syeda Abida Hussain, has said the government is trying to provide better medical services to the people and has taken numerous steps in this regard.
She was speaking at the inauguration of ‘Rahatkada,’ a continuing care unit for the cancer patients.
Rahatkada a project of Medical Aid Foundation (Cancer Division) is the first of its kind where accommodations were provided to cancer patients free of cost.
Also speaking on the occasion, Oofi khan, Chairperson, Managing Committee of ‘Rahatkada’ said the aim of the centre was to provide clean, caring and loving atmosphere along with trained medical and nursing staff of terminally ill cancer patients so that they could spend their last days in peace and with dignity.
The founder Chairperson of Medical Aid Foundation, Dr Saira Khan in her speech said that owing to the non-availability of means for early detection of cancer in our country, more than 75 percent of cancer patients reach terminal stage of the disease when it is diagnosed.
She sought people’s cooperation in enabling the Foundation to provide relief to cancer patients. |
