5,000 families given relief

 

Karachi, Nov 3: A 12 member team of the social services division of the Medical Aid Foundation returned here on Monday from Dadu after completing a four day relief tour of the district.

The team headed by MAF chief Dr Saira S. Khan, distributed relief goods worth Rs. 800,000 among 5,000 families of 26 villages of Mehar Taluka in Dadu, some 450 kilometers away from Karachi on the Indus Highway.

The relief team also organized a free medical camp and provided medical treatment and medicines to over 3,650 patients over 1,100 children were also vaccinated against typhoid and cholera. Medicines worth Rs 150 were distributed.

The team set up two cents. The first one was at Girls Primary School at Mureed Tunio Goth where the flood villagers from Sobho Khan Magsi, Mehrab Lakhiar, Kirir Khoso, Gharo, Faiz Mohammad Agro, Vighia, Mitho Machhi, Wadha, Abdul Hakeem Dillo, Ali Sher Zarwari, Qaim Shah and lakhi to Goth were given rice, sugar, pulses, tea, dry milk, soap, vegetable oil, biscuits, wheat floor, candles and matches. The villagers from Shah Punjo Sultan, Peroze Shah, Buxial Lakhiar, Masoo Sahar, Malhoo Machhi, Saharan, Heesbani, Malihi Lakhiar, Gullam Lakhiar, Chhahra, Langah and Jat Goths were provided relief goods at the second centre sep up at Government Middle School at Shah Panjo Sultan Goth.

Woolen Shawls, Ajraks and Blankets worth Rs 235,000 were given to the old and sick people, while the children were given warm clothes and toys at the time of vaccination. Dr Soomro, Dr Abro, the husband and wife team of doctors Baladai from the Taluka Hospital Mehar and Capt Rashid of the Army Medical Corps helped the team at the camps. Dadu based Brig Yasub Ali Dogar, the commanding officer of the area, had pointed out these villages as being badly affected by the recent floods and rains to the MAF which had contacted him for help to select the area where relief work was needed badly, with this trip, which was the sixth weekly relief trip to the Dadu district, the MAF has provided relief to 19,000 families, medical aid to 14,000 people children. Earlier, the MAF also conducted a relief trip to Saaghar district.
