A 16 member team of the Medical Aid Foundation (MAF) after undertaking its week-long relief cum medical aid tour to Larkana Distruct returned here on Monday.
Over 4,600 patients were examined and provided medicines, while 1,500 people were vaccinated against typhoid and malaria at the three medical amps setup by the MAF team, headed by its chief Dr. Saira S. Khan
Relief packages, comprising two weeks rations, including rice, cooking oil, sugar, soap where also distributed among 5,500 families. Biscuits and toys were also distributed among children at the time of vaccination.
Over 4,400 woolen blankets were distributed among the elderly villagers and 5,000 sweaters and woolen caps were given to children.
According to the doctors, the malnourished poor villagers in many parts of the district were using stagnant rain and flood water for bathing, cooking and other purposes, resulting into the outbreak fo jaundice, typhoid, malaria and various skin diseases in the area complicating the already complex problems that they were facing in the winter.
The MAF distributed relief goods and medicines worth over Rs. 1.1 million among the villagers who came from far flung places like Warrah, Kambar, Ghazi khawar, Shahdad Kot. Doctors Shamin Syed, Mr. Imran, sulaiman, Shahid and Azad Khan conducted the medical camps.
Earlier, during its various relief trips to the Dadu district, stretching over a perio do fthree and a half months, the MAF team distributed relief good and medicines among 26,500 families of over 210 villagees. |
