MAF provides relief to 4000 flood effected families in Dadu

A 25 member team of the social service division of the Medical Aid Foundation returned here from Sehwan district Dadu on Saturday, after completing an 8 day Medical camp and Relief tour of the district in 2 phases.

The team was headed by Dr. Saira Khan, President of the Medical Aid Foundation, and distributed relief goods among 3,900 families of 16 villages in Sehwan and Dadu.

The team also organized free medical camps through which medical treatment was provided to over 4,400 patients.

These camps were setup up in Primary School of Talti where the flood affectees from the adjoining Katcha areas came in hundreds.

The villages covered were Bubak, Bambha, Bhaan Syedabad, talti and its adjoining Katcha areas, Hajiani, Gadjat Miani, Lashari, Ahmed Khan Lashari Goth, Lal Khan Lashari Goth, Kot Lashari Goth, Gadhi, Karampur, Wadero Peeral Hapepota Jo goth, Jilbani,  Durri dero, Neuwahan Goth.

The people of these areas are living in appalling conditions with little or nothing to survive on. All their lands are completely submerged; hence these people were forced to seek refuge on the Bund areas.

Due to stagnant and dirty water all round there is danger of an inevitable epidemic in all flood affected areas of rural Sindh.

The Medical Aid Foundation distributed ration packages consisting of rice, atta, sugar lentils, powder milk, tea, biscuits and matches to last for 10 days including woolen blankets.

Diseases are already taking its toll as the majority of the people were found suffering from malaria and gastroenteritis. Children have been suffering from malnutrition and stomach ailments. The Medical Aid Foundation will continue its flood relief operation till the next six weeks.
